This is the first step BEFORE you file. CCCS of Kern & Tulare Counties offers Bankruptcy Counseling. For your convenience we offer in person, over the phone or Internet appointments. Please see below for the required information for each type of appointment. Please note: We do not communicate with your attorney. You must provide us with all the required information, even if you have already provided it to your attorney.

ONLINE PRE-FILING COUNSELING
Please submit the following information:

PAY $45 counseling fee. You can pay online using your debit card or MAIL $45 (MONEY ORDER or CASHIERS CHECK ONLY!) to CCCS, 5300 Lennox Avenue, Suite 200, Bakersfield, CA 93309. Please note that if you pay online, it may take up to three business days for our bank to be notified that your funds have been transferered. **

COMPLETE the Online Bankruptcy Counseling Forms. Please make sure to fill out ALL information, including your NAME, MONTHLY EXPENSES and DEBTS. Please be sure to include your email address as this is the most efficient way for your counselor to contact you regarding the information in your forms.

Statements from all creditors or credit report (no more than three months old)

Two most recent pay stubs

$45 counseling fee (CASH, MONEY ORDER, CASHIERS CHECK or pay online ahead of time using your debit card.) Please note that if you pay online, it may take up to three business days for our bank to be notified that your funds have been transferred. Unless you pay AT LEAST three business days before your appointment, it's best to bring in CASH, MONEY ORDER or CASHIERS CHECK.**

** To help cover the cost of providing this session to you, this agency charges a fee of $ 45, certified funds or cash only. In limited circumstances, you may be eligible to have this fee waived. Services will be provided without regard to the ability to pay the fee.
