We are a member of the National Foundation for Credit Counseling (NFCC) and are certified by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to provide comprehensive housing counseling services. We are accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Services for Families and Children (COA) and are a member of the Better Business Bureau (BBB). Established in 1966, CCCS has strong roots in our community as well as hundreds of affiliated locations nationwide.
Our Code of Ethics:
CCCS is dedicated to providing confidential and professional counseling to aid and rehabilitate financially distressed families and individuals regardless of race, creed, color, sex, social position or financial status, and to fostering consumer education for our community on money management and the intelligent use of credit.
How Can CCCS Benefit You?
As a Consumer: by offering tools to help you set and achieve financial goals. Whether you need immediate help to pay off debt and avoid bankruptcy or you just need guidance in designing a spending and savings plan or buying a first home, we offer a variety of programs and services that put you in control of your financial future. Debt Management Plan participants pay a small monthly administrative fee to help offset the cost of handling their accounts; however, the fee never exceeds $35 per month.
As an Employer: by providing an opportunity for employees to attend Employee Assistance Programs offered by CCCS and receive help when the unexpected happens, ensuring their continued employment and production standards. Employees with money problems cost you money. If employees are worried about paying their bills, they may find it difficult to concentrate on their work. The result for you is lost productivity, errors on the job, lost sales, and potential wage garnishment. We would be pleased to visit with you and educate your employees about more effective ways to mange their finances now and in the future. As a non-profit 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) organization, we are supported by tax-deductible donations from creditors, corporations, and foundations. Therefore, we are able to make our services available to businesses on a low or no cost basis.
As a Creditor: by continuing the education of consumers, accounts can be paid regularly and credit can continue to be extended, with fewer bad debt write-offs.
As a Member of the Community: by knowing your neighbors who are facing financial difficulties can obtain confidential, professional advice when necessary, and by realizing that a community is only as sound as those who comprise it. Therefore, sound financial planning becomes an important issue to individuals, families, organizations and the community as a whole.
At CCCS our first goal is to examine your financial situation and assist you in identifying your areas of need. Second, we will work with you and your creditors and develop a debt repayment plan that not only will fit within your budget, but will satisfy your creditors as well. Take our Debt Test to help you assess your situation.
Finally, our goal is to educate you in the areas of sound financial management and the wise use of credit and to provide information and counseling on topics such as credit and housing.
FUNDING INFORMATION
CCCS is supported by tax deductible contributions from consumer lenders, merchants who sell goods and services on credit, and other community minded firms, organizations, and individuals. Most of our funding comes from voluntary contributions from creditors who participate in Debt Management Plans ("DMP"). Since creditors have a financial interest in getting paid, most are willing to make a contribution to help fund our agency. These contributions are usually calculated as a percentage of payments you make through your DMP- up to 15% of each payment received. However, your accounts with your creditors are always to be credited with 100 % of the amount you pay through us and we will work with all your creditors regardless of whether they contribute to our agency.
